How should Helm charts be designed for production in Helm?

Keep templates generic, values explicit, secrets external, chart versions immutable, and validate rendered manifests in CI. The implementation should be justified by measurable requirements, kept as simple as the problem allows, and validated with realistic tests, telemetry, failure handling, and documented tradeoffs.
